BERO BOBUS
Originally from Croatia, represented Croatia in the International Beach Volleyball Tournaments (FIVB and CEV) between 2004 and 2006, achieved a highest world ranking of 74th in 2005.
Moved to Cayman Islands in 2006. Representing Cayman Islands, won a gold medal in the 2007 Island Games in Rhodes.
Moved to Jersey in 2007. Representing Jersey, won a bronze medal in the 2015 Island Games in Jersey and 2017 Island Games in Gotland (with partner Ruben Vieira). Competed in the UK National Beach Volleyball Tour between 2008 and 2018, achieving a highest UK ranking of 1st in 2010.
Bero will be representing Jersey in the 2019 Island Games in Gibraltar.
RUBEN VIEIRA
Originally from Madeira, Ruben won Jersey's first Beach Volleyball medal in the 2017 Island Games playing with Bero Bobus.
Ruben and Bero have been Jersey's 2's Beach Volleyball Champions since 2014.
Ruben has had 2 top 10 finishes in the Volleyball England Beach Tour (VEBT).
Ranked 9th overall in 2016 and 10th in 2017 in the VEBT.
2016/2017 qualification for VEBT Finals (First time ever for a team from Jersey)
MVP of the Jersey League since 2015.
Ruben will be representing Jersey in the 2019 Island Games in Gibraltar.
ANDRE FORTUNATO
Originally from Portugal, Andre was introduced to Jersey Volleyball in 2012.
Represented Jersey in the 2015 Island Games for indoor volleyball placing 5th.
Andre started his transition to Beach Volleyball later that year by finishing 2nd in that year's pairs tournament, 2nd in 2016 and 1st in 2017.
Represented Jersey in both indoor and Beach Volleyball in the 2017 Island Games in Gotland, achieving a 6th place finish in both categories.
He has been attending Beach Volleyball tournaments in the UK since 2016 with notable results being silver in two London tournaments.
Andre will be representing Jersey in the 2019 Island Games in Gibraltar.
JOSE FIGUEIRA
Originally from Portugal, Leo played professional indoor volleyball as a libero in both the first and second leagues in Portugal.
He won the Madeira League playing for the B Team.
After training with the first team, they were in the second league, but won the league and got promoted to the first league.
In the first league they achieved a 5th place finish which was the best classification that the club had ever achieved.
Leo represented Jersey in the Island Games for both Volleyball and Football.
Leo will be representing Jersey in the 2019 Island Games in Gibraltar.
PAUL GARTSHORE
Originally from Scotland, Paul started playing at college in Edinburgh in 1992.
Moved to Jersey in 1999. Started 2v2 tournaments with support from the Jersey Volleyball Association. Previous member of JVA as Beach Co-ordinator.
Winner of the Jersey Beach Volleyball 2v2 tournament with various partners from 2000-2011. (11 consecutive years)
Paul has played in many UK VEBT tournaments.
He has represented Jersey in either indoor or beach volleyball in the Island Games since 2001, through to 2017. That is 9 Island Games in a row.
